Dr. Coffey is a native of Florida and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Florida State University. While at Florida State, she worked at the Center for Autism Research and Development/Early Steps which specializes in identifying infants and young children with autism and developmental delays. She attended graduate school at the University of South Florida, where she received her Doctor of Audiology degree in 2014. Dr. Coffey was a member of the research team that analyzed the benefit of auditory training in bilateral cochlear implant users and presented her research at an international conference.
As a hearing impaired individual and a bilateral cochlear implant recipient, Dr. Coffey has a passion for helping children and families facing the challenges often associated with hearing loss. This unique perspective and understanding of hearing loss allows her to relate with children and families on both a personal and professional level.
She completed her clinical training in various medical and audiologic settings with an emphasis on diagnostic audiology, hearing aid fitting, and cochlear implant services. Her experience ranges from working with newborns in administering hearing screenings in a large hospital to fitting hearing aids on the geriatric population at a small private practice. Following the completion of her one year externship with CENTA, Dr. Coffey accepted a position and become the latest member of the CENTA Audiology team.
Dr. Coffey likes reading, travelling and watching college football (Go Noles!). She also enjoys relaxing by the water with her German Shepherd, Kona, and spending time with family and friends.
